Prevacid®/Lansoprazole®/Lanton® (lansoprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor and acts in the stomach to decrease the production of stomach acid. Typically the stomach lining and duodenum (an area of the intestine directly after the stomach) are protected by a layer that resists acid attacks, but if this layer is damaged or acid production increases, a peptic ulcer can develop on the linings.

Prevacid 24HR prevents the acid that causes heartburn and its uncomfortable symptoms for a full 24 hours. But how exactly does Prevacid 24HR work? Inside your stomach are millions of little “spigots” called proton pumps. These pumps release the acid your stomach uses to digest food. This is the same acid that can back up into your esophagus and cause heartburn.
Prevacid 24HR turns off many of these pumps, preventing the excess stomach acid before it can do you harm. The active ingredient in Prevacid 24HR is lansoprazole, an acid reducer. Clinically proven to treat frequent heartburn. Sodium free. *Use as directed for 14 days to treat frequent heartburn. Stop use and ask a doctor if: your heartburn continues or worsens; you need to take this product for more than 14 days; you need to take more than 1 course of treatment every 4 months; you get diarrhea; you develop a rash or joint pain. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health care professional before use. Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away
